His Story

Frank McBride’s Story

A young firefighter’s journey, a life-changing diagnosis, and a community coming together to stand beside him.

🔥

Frank McBride began his career with Pasco County Fire Rescue in June 2025, starting his orientation at Station 10 in Hudson on B Shift. At just 19 years old, Frank was already living out his dream of becoming a firefighter — stepping into a life of service, brotherhood, and commitment to his community.

Just months later, everything changed. In January 2026, Frank began experiencing severe back pain. What first seemed minor quickly became something far more serious. After visiting urgent care, he was immediately sent to St. Joseph’s Hospital-North for further evaluation. There, after additional testing and consultation with a urologist, Frank was diagnosed with Stage 3 testicular cancer and underwent emergency surgery that same day.

As Frank and his family began processing this life-changing diagnosis, help came from within the fire service family. With the support of Frank’s captain, Cody Compagni, and Cody’s wife, who works for Moffitt Cancer Center, Frank was connected with specialists at Moffitt for continued treatment and care.

It was there that Frank learned the cancer had already spread to his lymph nodes, liver, and possibly his lungs. In March 2026, he began chemotherapy. His treatment plan includes one round every 21 days, with each round consisting of five consecutive days of multiple treatments. He is currently scheduled to complete this phase of treatment by the end of May 2026.

Through it all, Frank has remained in good spirits. He is focused on healing, determined to beat this, and looking forward to the day he can return to doing what he loves — serving the community as a firefighter for Pasco County Fire Rescue.

This fundraiser is about standing beside Frank during one of the toughest battles of his life — helping ease the financial burden of treatment and reminding him that he does not face this fight alone.
